The creators of Borderlands are making a first-person MOBA called Battleborn. Gearbox Software are taking on their first multiplayer for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. According an announcement made from the studio and their publisher 2K in this months issue of Game Informer, the game combines first person shooting with a co-operative combat.
Players can choose from a number of different heroes and abilities to team up against a powerful force of evil. Set in the distance future, the heroes must save the last star in the universe from dying. MOBA’s (multiplayer online battle arena) have rose in popularity significantly over the past couple years, with popular MOBO League of Legends currently topping the chart as the most played video game.
Critics argue – does the world really need another MOBA? But when you take Gearbox’s imaginative design of characters and combine it with a unique co-operative campaign you have a combination of two major game elements to keep up with the changing times. Fans are left in anticipation as the new trailer leaves them wondering when a release date will be announced.
